Portrait of Spaniel - Art by Jo Reed

 Hi!

I grew up on a dairy farm in Staffordshire surrounding by lots of cows . My first pet was a donkey but I was soon pestering for riding lessons and a pony!

My favourite lesson at school was art but at college my A-levels took me in a different direction. I went to Sheffield University where I met my husband, graduated in dentistry and moved to the Peak District, where we stayed.

We soon acquired 2 cats, and then my superstar Irish cob Radish!

The Reed Family

We now have three daughters, a Labrador, a pony and 5 cats that keep us busy.

I started painting again in 2021 when I picked up a running injury, having not picked up a brush since I left school.  I was inspired and encouraged by several friends to see what I could do. I enjoy producing detailed watercolour paintings of animals from quality photographs, aiming to bring their personalities onto the paper.

I love getting out and about where we live, and I’ll always be stopping to take pictures if I come across cows on my walks or runs. Anyone that knows me knows I do love cows !
